Each Scout must register his car Friday night
Saturday, February 25 Pinewood Derby – WCUMC
1:30 pm– 2:30 pm – Optional Open Race
Anyone can race any car old or new as long as it doesn’t exceed 10 oz. and meets (or met) Pinewood Derby rules at the time it was built.
2:30 pm – Sign in and obtain a ballot for Best of Show voting
2:30 – 3:00 pm – Scouts vote for “Best of Show” awards
3:00 – 5:00 pm – Derby races
Each rank (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos I and Webelos II) will race and be timed in four heats; one on each of the four lanes. The times of all four heats will be summed. The fastest three racers will advance to the Pack Grand Finale heats.
3:00 – 5:00 – Hot dog dinner – The Boy Scouts from Troop 171 will be providing hot dog meals (hot dog, chips and drink) as an Eagle project fundraiser. They will also have a bake sale table with delicious desserts. Suggested donations are $3 per meal and $1 per dessert. This is a great way to help the troop’s Scouts and get a great meal at the same time!!! Be sure to ask them about their progress towards earning their Eagle rank. They will have their Eagle books with them.
5:00 pm – 5:30 pm – Grand Finale heats (top 3 racers of each rank)
5:30 pm – Announce Pack winners and present awards
Don’t forget about our Camping Raffle! We will be raffling 3 awesome Dremel tool sets. Each ticket costs just $1 per ticket. All proceeds will go towards our next camping trip!
